Boots

Boots are for protection from injury, the elements and must be comfortable enough to walk around in upon reaching a destination. On off-road routes, when the Rider must stand up on the footpegs, the sole must be stiff and not bend.

The boots of choice are the Altberg Hogg's. They are both tough and versatile enough to actually walk in when not on the bike. The only downside of them is that the height of them is not as high as typical riding boots.

As a 3 month update, these have been great boots - comfortable, sturdy and not too restrictive to walk in. Provided that you don't step in any puddles taller than the boots, they are perfectly waterproof. The only criticism is that the leather for the gear change on the left toe is in the wrong place, with the result being that it wears through the laces. The last pair of laces only lasted a month!

Upon my return, when I contacted Altberg concerning the overly sharp lace eyes and the gear shift being mis-located, they showed no interest at all. Very disappointing given that all customer service from previous contact with them had been excellent. Perhaps, like BMW, they're only happy to serve when they're making a sale.
