Helmet

As with the rest of the body, the head must be protected. In addition to protection from knocks, dirt must be kept out of the eyes and the head must be kept cool. In most areas that the Rider will travel to, locals will not wear helmets.

The Arai Tour X helmet was chosen due to its light weight, comfort and excellent safety reputation. It has a sun peak, which has proven to be very useful on a journey that begins by heading in an Easterly direction every day. Hopefully, as the journey heads towards warmer climes, the venting will prove to be invaluable. The colour is called Challenge Blue.

14,000 mile update: This is a great helmet. Very comfortable, gives good viewing and well vented. The visor is now quite scratched to the extent that when it rains and at night I can hardly see where I am going. I have replaced the visor with an Iridium one and wear clear/yellow driving glasses underneath for when it rains or at night. A much better setup!
