Template Template Carrying of Oil   Carrying Oil

Regular changing of the engine oil should help to keep the bike in top condition. Whilst oil will generally be available (in varying qualities), it is useful to carry some at all times in case it needs to be topped up.

Searching for a location to carry a bottle oil proved to be quite difficult whilst not affecting access to other storage areas. It is preferable not to carry the oil within the panniers in case it leaks. The photographs below shows the position that was decided upon, on the pannier frame where it is attached to the sub-frame. The exhaust feeds along the left of the bike, so the right hand side was chosen to prevent it from catching fire or the plastic bottle melting.

Update: Note that in 35,000 miles of use, I have never had to add a single drop of oil between changes!
